Letter from ASIS President Rich Widup, Jr., CPP, on Membership
October 10, 2014Dear ASIS Member:
Thank you for your membership in ASIS in 2014. It has been an honor to serve as your president this past year and to meet or reconnect with so many of you. As we enter the final quarter of 2014, I hope that you have taken the opportunity to become involved in your ASIS global community over the course of this year. From networking and information to education and certification, your membership in ASIS provides ready access to the resources and tools required for you to stay current in the security profession and to advance your career. I invite you now to take a moment to renew your ASIS membership so that you can secure your member benefits through 2015. The preferred method to complete your renewal is to simply go to your “My ASIS” page at www.asisonline.org, sign into your “My ASIS,” and select the “My Transaction” tab followed by “My Open Invoices” to view your renewal invoice. Please select the invoice and “add to cart.” Note: Multi-year renewals are now available for up to three years, should you choose to extend your membership beyond 2015. Also, we ask that you update your demographic information while you are in your “My ASIS” so that we may more effectively serve you by providing information that fits your needs and areas of interest. This year, we will be holding a drawing the last business day of each month for those who have renewed so far. The winner will receive a $100 gift card. The earlier you renew, the more months you will be eligible to win. If you have any questions or we can help you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact Member Services representatives by email at asis@asisonline.org or by telephone at +1.703.519.6200 between 09:00 and 17:00 (ET), Monday-Friday. On behalf of the ASIS Board of Directors, I extend our appreciation for your membership and your continuing support. We look forward to serving you in the year ahead as you work to strengthen your professional network, deepen your knowledge, and attain your career goals in security. Sincerely, Richard E. Widup, Jr., CPP |

Recap of May 2014 Meeting
We had a full house on May 21, 2014 at the ASIS NYC Chapter meeting with over 250 in attendance to hear the recently appointed NYPD Commissioner William J. Bratton speak to the membership. Commissioner Bratton provided a ‘State of the NYPD’ address and discussed new initiatives and trends within the NYPD. We are honored to have Commissioner Bratton provide his valuable insight to the Chapter and for his committment to work with the NYC Chapter to enhance the working relationship between the public and private security sectors.

Recap of April 2014 meeting
On April 24, 2014 the NYC Chapter of ASIS International held our monthly meeting at Bobby Van’s downtown restaurant. Vice Chair Craig Schwab brought the meeting to order in place of Chairman George W. Anderson who was on travel that day. We heard some very interesting insight regarding the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 from our speaker John Goglia, Former Director of Aviation for the National Transportation Safety Board.
